We host from "The Grit City", (located in the beautiful Pacific NorthwestTacoma, Washington.  

We cover everything from lifestyle and small businesses to events, musicians, bands and interesting characters we find along the way.  Things that we feel personify the meaning of "Grit": Fortitude, Perseverance, Strength of Character, Determination. Tenacity, Resolve, etc.

Episode 101: Cashing In Karma

On this episode, they guys sit down with the members of the band, Cashing In Karma. Cashing In Karma is a high energy Alternative Rock band from Tacoma, WA. They formed in 2012 and play shows all around the Seattle Area.

They kick of the show talking about how the guys came up with the band name and how the band got started. They explain kicking around band name ideas and finally falling on Cashing In Karma. They also talk about how the band started with one of the members writing songs in high school and once into college posting signs at Pierce College to recruit members.

They continue the conversation with the guys talking about the challenges that they ran into when they first got started that varied from being busy with college and work, and finding a base player. They also talk about the EP coming out, places they have performed and finding their newest basest, Alex.

At the halfway point Melvin talks about working for a nonprofit through Ameri Core and if he hadn’t decided to be a musician, he would have gone back to school to be a teacher. Johnny also talks about attending college for a degree in music and working in the food industry. He additionally goes over what his daily plan would look like if he had the opportunity to pursue music full time.

Conversation then turns to the events that the band has coming up in July that include: a show in Redmond at the Redmond Town Center on July 14th and the Hard Rock Café in Seattle on July 23rd. They also talk about the gratifying parts about being in a band that includes song writing and seeing the fans reaction when playing live.

The show comes to a close with the band members letting the guys know where fans can find them online. From YouTube to Twitter, they recommend that fans just type the band name in google when searching for them.
