The show starts off with Zachariah discussing the focus to the Business Examiner, which is mainly businesses in the South Sound Area. They feature articles about businesses in the area which include: manufacturing, healthcare and financial services. He talks about his interest in peoples stories and what lead him to the Business Reporter. He also talks about interesting businesses he’s talked to in the area.

Talk then turns to the reason Zachariah reached out to Grit City Podcast. While looking for the opportunity to talk to other creative people in the community, people that celebrate what Tacoma is about, he ran across GCP and reached out to them. The also talk about Business Examiner’s rebranding in 2016. In January, they’re planning on releasing a magazine format and changing the name to South Sound Biz.

Discussion then goes to Tacoma’s features and the guys’ thoughts, concerns, and challenges with what it has to offer. Brogan talks about Tacoma’s growth in the last 10 years, especially in the downtown area. They also talk about what Tacoma would need to do to continue its growth in the art, music, and comedy scenes, and also with local business influences.

The show winds down talking about rebranding Tacoma and what they would like to see highlighted in the area that isn’t highlighted at the moment. The two things that the guys feel needs to be more highlighted is entertainment and dining in Tacoma.

The show ends talking about businesses starting in and then leaving Tacoma and reasons why that happens. They also discuss the importance of voting people into Tacoma City Council that are wanting to expand the city and working towards keeping businesses local and the city hiring a new marketing director.

Thanks Zachariah for joining Scott and Brogan on the podcast! We’re excited to see what 2016 brings for Business Examiner.
