We host from "The Grit City", (located in the beautiful Pacific NorthwestTacoma, Washington.  

We cover everything from lifestyle and small businesses to events, musicians, bands and interesting characters we find along the way.  Things that we feel personify the meaning of "Grit": Fortitude, Perseverance, Strength of Character, Determination. Tenacity, Resolve, etc.

Episode 76: LROC

On this episode, Scott and Brogan talk to LROC, a Tacoma rap artist, musician, and poet. Calling himself a street poet, he was born in Seattle and moved to Tacoma in 7th grade. The show starts off discussing LROCs music start and other up and coming Tacoma rap artists and how they work hard to get recognition outside of Seattle. They also discuss rap artists covering other rappers songs.

Talk then turns to him getting started in 2013 after hanging with a local rapper that invited him to join him while recording. He covers his growing business and trying to build his brand. He expands on his slogan EBE, (everybody eats) and his first studio that was setup in his house. He also talks about his close nit team of 20 – 25 people in the Tacoma/Seattle area.

Discussion goes to what LROC is doing in Tacoma and other people he’s performing with. At the time of the recording, he had done his last show for a few months at Jazz Bones where he performed at the Lil Ripp Album Release Party. He talks about performing with Clemm Rishad, King Leez, Cally Reed, and Bruce Leroy. He explains that he’s currently on a break, doing in house promotions and spending time with his newborn.

The show winds down with him expanding the meaning behind the name, which spell out: Love, Respect, Obligations, and Currency. He also discusses recent gang shootings in Tacoma, where 8 people under the age of 22 were shot and him voicing his frustration over people being angry about terrorists in France when there are issues going on locally in Tacoma.

Podcast closes with the topic of kids, each discussing the ups and down of parenting. Also he gives props to people and businesses in the community, including Clean Cut Boys Club that does raffles for kids that can’t afford a haircut, Reallionaire that does a lot of his videography, and Sarai, a talented tattoo artist who is also a key health activist in Tacoma.
