GCP 76: LROC
Episode 76: LROC
On this episode, Scott and Brogan talk to LROC, a Tacoma rap artist, musician, and poet. Calling himself a street poet, he was born in Seattle and moved to Tacoma in 7th grade. The show starts off discussing LROCs music start and other up and coming Tacoma rap artists and how they work hard to get recognition outside of Seattle. They also discuss rap artists covering other rappers songs.
Talk then turns to him getting started in 2013 after hanging with a local rapper that invited him to join him while recording. He covers his growing business and trying to build his brand. He expands on his slogan EBE, (everybody eats) and his first studio that was setup in his house. He also talks about his close nit team of 20 – 25 people in the Tacoma/Seattle area.
Discussion goes to what LROC is doing in Tacoma and other people he’s performing with. At the time of the recording, he had done his last show for a few months at Jazz Bones where he performed at the Lil Ripp Album Release Party. He talks about performing with Clemm Rishad, King Leez, Cally Reed, and Bruce Leroy. He explains that he’s currently on a break, doing in house promotions and spending time with his newborn.
The show winds down with him expanding the meaning behind the name, which spell out: Love, Respect, Obligations, and Currency. He also discusses recent gang shootings in Tacoma, where 8 people under the age of 22 were shot and him voicing his frustration over people being angry about terrorists in France when there are issues going on locally in Tacoma.
