We cover everything from lifestyle and small businesses to events, musicians, bands and interesting characters we find along the way.  Things that we feel personify the meaning of "Grit": Fortitude, Perseverance, Strength of Character, Determination. Tenacity, Resolve, etc.

Episode 77: The Peterson Bros and Todd Dammit

On this podcast, Scott and Brogan talk to Rob and Justin Peterson, owners of The Valley and The Eleven Eleven and their friend, Todd Dammit.

The show kicks off with Rob and Justin talking about their background and what drove them to open a bar. Both explain being home grown Tacomans, the want to open a bar, and how they both started off in the restaurant industry. They also explain the importance of having friendly, personal people behind the bar.

Talk then turns to how The Eleven Eleven got started. They explain being approached by the owner of the building about opening a bar and the challenges it was to get it open. Justin and Rob also talk about working together and how occasionally that can lead to brotherly quarrels.

Discussion then goes to the guys hosting bands at The Valley and The Grand Old Valley podcast. Todd Dammit explains the makeup of the show, beer easing hosts into recording, and the importance of creating an outline before recording. They also talk about Turkey Fest Two and the first recording of the show.

The show winds down with Rob and Justin discussing their next project, Peaks and Pints in the Proctor district. They express the excitement of opening the shop, and where the idea came about. The also cover the process of buying different types of beer and the rotation and number of taps they’ll have available.
