This time, GCP does a throwback episode of show 152 with Dan Nims, the chief investigator for the Washington chapter of MUFON. Dan is retired from the US Air Force (thank you for your service) where he started his career as a fighter pilot and test pilot, followed by advancing to Director of Test for the F-22 program and finally Director of Test Resources. He spent his initial retirement years as a small businessman in Walla Walla and is now re-retired. He has been a member of MUFON since 2017 and Chief Investigator since 2018. He handles on average 200 reported UFO cases per year. MUFON is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 charitable corporation and the world's oldest and largest civilian UFO investigation & research organization. Their goal is to be the inquisitive minds' refuge seeking answers to that most ancient question, "Are we alone in the universe?" The Washington Chapter hosts a monthly lecture series on Zoom where anyone can ask questions and hear how MUFON of Washington State handles UFO cases.

00:04 – This episode kicks off discussing Rob Zombie’s song about UFOs, Justin talks about checking out Art On The Ave, and Derek throws a suggestion out to organizers of the event to make it easier for people planning to go. They talk about Porchfest happening the upcoming weekend, Justin talks about the re-opening of Dirty Oscar’s Annex, and they discuss other cities that have bars open for breakfast like Tacoma.

18:49 – Justin talks about attending the ceremony at Terracrux Games where they dedicated a DND table to an amazing customer they lost from cancer, he thanks everyone that joined them for Putt Stuff, and they talked about the complexity of the course. Jeff gives Scott props on the golf swag bags, shares his love of the handmade cards, and Derek reviews the scores of the game.

38:11 – Scott gives his review on Captain Crab post-golf, Justin talks about the explosion of Cajun seafood in the area, and gives an open invite to Samantha Gallia to join the next Putt Stuff event. Justin jumps into Scott Topics, they talk about the five key takeaways from Congress’ UFO hearing, and give their reviews of it.

00:19 – Scott talks about getting a VR, Justin talks about Meta Horizon Worlds, and Jeff shares his neighbor fertilizing his lawn. Brogan talks about lawn maintenance rates, Jeff gives recommendations for first things for people to do when first using VR, and his favorite pinball games in VR. He talks about how people find each other in Horizon World, Scott talks about the immersive VR videos he's been enjoying, and the virtual office setups.

20:12 – They jump into Jeff's Capades, Jeff talks about his recent neighbor visit, and how far his HOA stretches in the area. Justin talks about HOA complaints he hears, the challenges of being the HOA king, and Jeff chats about being approached by a lady asking for gas. Justin expresses how the lady potentially was casing the area for people being home, Justin talks about the guy being chased on his bike by a bear, and Brogan talks about his recent camping trip.

41:29 – Justin talks about why he bought his pellet gun, why he decided to have the 4th of July party on Saturday, and his recent addition of a keg to his bar. He talks about wanting to go camping, Brogan expresses being done with camping in a tent, and they kick off Scott Topics. They review the questions from the LaMDA Sentient interview, discuss the Spider-Man robot crash during a stunt, and the claim that robots will be taking over humans.

61:44 – Justin inquires about the length of time it would take to smoke BBQ wings on his Traeger, they discuss if using a Traeger is cheating, and Justin talks about smoking a pizza. Brogan talks about the success of smoked brisket tacos at his shop, selling beer on Uber Eats, and Scott shares his love of to-go drink orders still available at the bar. Jeff talks about his want to start to get back into airbrushing, Brogan talks about visiting the Washington Association of Brewers earlier in the day, and they close out talking about recent brew fests in the area before opening it up to the listeners.

He talks about MUFON’s three primary functions, what is involved with a MUFON investigation, and ways they gather information outside of a witness’s statement. He shares what his favorite investigation was, the amount of cases that are reported yearly to MUFON, and how he got started with the organization.

21:29 – Dan talks about the first Man in Black sighting that was actually here is Washington, shares that the MUFON Symposium’s are open to the public, and info on the one scheduled for 2021 in Las Vegas. He talks about the advantages and disadvantages of UFO events being held virtually due to Covid, his most unbelievable investigation that ended up as a hoax, and dives deeper into how MUFON is funded.

43:06 – Dan talks about meeting Bob Lazar at a UFO conference, the most frustrating aspects of investigations, and shares the Pink Ring story. He tells the story of the donut UFO that happened over the summer of 2020, reflects on the night testing he did as a test pilot in the Air Force, and gives Brogan a suggestion for a classic UFO pic to hang in his business. Dan talks about one of his recent fun cases and where he feels Washington is in terms of number of UFS sightings.
