The Grit City Podcast is a weekly audio experience like no other! Hosted from the vibrant city of Tacoma, Washington - also known as "Grit City," our show has been entertaining and informing listeners since 2014. And what a ride it's been!
Every week, we release a new episode that introduces you to the dynamic and inspiring individuals who call the Pacific Northwest home. From local business owners and entrepreneurs to authors, artists, and unique characters, our guests embody the hard-working, blue-collar spirit that Grit City is known for. And let's not forget the occasional drug-fueled weirdo we may have met at a comedy club the night before!
The Grit City Podcast first launched back in the summer of 2014 and quickly built a loyal fanbase of listeners who appreciated the show's unique perspective on the Seattle/Tacoma area. After a brief hiatus in 2017, the podcast was rebooted in 2018, with even more friends and family members involved. It quickly regained its "must listen to" status and went on to deliver an impressive 275 episodes and counting, delivering over 280 hours of audio content to our fans since. With no signs of slowing down soon!
Our mission at The Grit City Podcast is simple: to bring the hard-working spirit of the Pacific Northwest to the world and have a good time doing it! We aim to create a community of listeners who understand and appreciate the concept of "grit". With a focus on local business owners, entrepreneurs, and unique characters, sprinkled with a good dose of humor, The Grit City Podcast is a one-of-a-kind audio experience that you won't want to miss.

This time the GCP guys sat down for a fun conversation with Jason and Tim, members of the PNW band ANTIHERO. I has been together for 5 years, though Jason and Tim have been playing for years together. You can find more information about the band on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

00:30 – Jason talks about the first time he threw his drum sticks out to the crowd, Justin welcomes Robo Brogan, and reflects on the last time he saw ANTIHERO live. The guys talk about how they’ve been doing, changes that have been going on lately with the band, and the interesting experience they had playing at The Stone Gate. They share what the purpose of a drum shield is, how long ANTOHERO has been around, and Jason talks about when they first started playing together.

18:04 – They talk about joining Dollar Store Cowboys, shifting to the Atomic Outlaws Band, and only playing with people they know. They talk about lighting things on fire when they play, how Tacoma ports are one of the top 10 cleanest ports in America, and Scott shares his love of conspiracy theories. Justin talks about talking Flat Earth with Mark Sargent, all share their love of Art Bell, and Justin gives props to the food at The Church Cantina in Tacoma.

33:17 – Justin jumps into Is It Tacoma, they discuss where Lynyrd Skynyrd memorabilia would be found in the PNW, and what drugs are most popular in places between Tacoma and Gig Harbor. Justin reveals what story was from Tacoma, they discuss if it was an inside job, and Tim talks about the roadies the band has had in the past. They talk about having $40,000 work of instruments stolen by someone busting through the side of the house, how they ended up getting some of it back, and Jason talks about buying an RV.

55:28 – Justin thanks the guys for sitting down for a conversation, Scott encourages them to let their kids join the band, and Tim talks about the band he started during Covid. Justin talks about when he moved to Arizona, why he came back to Seattle, and encourages the guys to float. They discuss how the food in Portland gets extra stars because of where it’s served at, starting the glam band Beauty School Drop Outs back in the day, and Jeff talks about getting his first Judas Priest album.

Thanks Jason and Tim for joining the guys for an awesome conversation! Special Guest: Antihero.

Derek chats about how long he’s been doing RPG’s and his preference of video games over RPG. He then tells that guys about his new podcast, Rolling Misadventures, it’s release date, how often they record, and where people can find the new podcast online.

20:43 – The ladies talking about what their business does, what brought them together and how they got started. Jennifer explains the idea coming to life while throwing pottery in April’s garage and the importance for them to keep a “laid back” atmosphere that makes learning fun.

34:18 – Talk turns to Octomom and what she’s been up to since her TV show, including her recent article in People Magazine. Jennifer dives into SPUN being in business for two years and her taking the step outside of the corporate world, leaving her job after 20 years to pursue something different.

44:04 – They jump into the conversation of shaving, why the guys set the 1 drink limit for guests, and Jennifer’s hate for raw onions, cucumbers, and yellow mustard. Jennifer also illustrations her salutary voice, gives the guys her recipe for barbeque sriracha street corn, and they discuss different combinations of food that shouldn’t work but do.

56:00 – April and Jennifer talk about the decision to provide kids classes, realizing the memories they’re making for the kids, and nick names that they have with each other. The topic then turns to what’s included with the cost of a session at SPUN and they delve into the pics of each other’s phones.

As this episode comes to a close the girls talk about what’s included with their cost, April shares the story of Chad, and their hours and where people can find them. Thanks April and Jennifer for joining the guys for a look inside SPUN. Special Guests: Derek G and SPUN.
