The Grit City Podcast is a weekly audio experience like no other! Hosted from the vibrant city of Tacoma, Washington - also known as "Grit City," our show has been entertaining and informing listeners since 2014. And what a ride it's been!
Every week, we release a new episode that introduces you to the dynamic and inspiring individuals who call the Pacific Northwest home. From local business owners and entrepreneurs to authors, artists, and unique characters, our guests embody the hard-working, blue-collar spirit that Grit City is known for. And let's not forget the occasional drug-fueled weirdo we may have met at a comedy club the night before!
The Grit City Podcast first launched back in the summer of 2014 and quickly built a loyal fanbase of listeners who appreciated the show's unique perspective on the Seattle/Tacoma area. After a brief hiatus in 2017, the podcast was rebooted in 2018, with even more friends and family members involved. It quickly regained its "must listen to" status and went on to deliver an impressive 275 episodes and counting, delivering over 280 hours of audio content to our fans since. With no signs of slowing down soon!
Our mission at The Grit City Podcast is simple: to bring the hard-working spirit of the Pacific Northwest to the world and have a good time doing it! We aim to create a community of listeners who understand and appreciate the concept of "grit". With a focus on local business owners, entrepreneurs, and unique characters, sprinkled with a good dose of humor, The Grit City Podcast is a one-of-a-kind audio experience that you won't want to miss.
So, if you're looking for a weekly dose of inspiration, laughter, and a celebration of the human spirit, look no further than The Grit City Podcast! Subscribe now and join us for the ride!

The crew gets deep into "Old Man Bingo" this week. From the $70 billion low-altitude economy in China to the "Hobby Cross" (motocross without the motors), Jeff, Scott, and Mike cover the weirdest corners of the web. Jeff shares a harrowing tale from his days in a warehouse involving a "seeping" sex doll return, and the guys debate the ethics of 3D-printing your grandpa’s anatomy as a vehicle memorial. Plus: listener voicemails on AI water usage and why ordering a small coffee at McDonald’s can break the entire system.

<itunes:subtitle>It’s a Valentine’s Day edition of the Grit City Podcast, but the mood is far from sweet. Jeff, Scott, and Mike dive into the terrifying speed of the AI revolution, debating Microsoft’s claim that white-collar jobs are 18 months away from obsolescence. The crew also discusses the thin line between cam sites and legalized prostitution, the high-stakes world of Super Bowl prop bets (including a $50,000 field striker win), and the "Southern Canada" geography of Minnesota. Most importantly, the guys issue a call to action for the Tacoma community to support Side Piece Kitchen through a GoFundMe as owner Hailey recovers from a severe kitchen fire.</itunes:subtitle>

<p>Jeff, Scott, and Mike open this Valentine’s Day edition of Saturday Night Grit with a mix of Space Needle clichés and hard-hitting societal questions. The crew tackles the controversial intersection of digital platforms like "Fans Only" and the legal definition of prostitution, questioning how these digital footprints impact future employment and decision-making skills. This leads into a deep dive into the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, sparked by a recent prediction from Microsoft’s AI CEO that white-collar tasks could be fully automated within the next 18 months. The guys debate whether we are facing a cultural plateau or a necessary "equal opportunity" shift that will force a resurgence in true human creativity.</p>

<p>The tech talk continues with a look at how AI is already reshaping entertainment—from Greenland-themed GTA 6 trailers to high-end transcriptions and the "magic tricks" of search algorithms. The hosts weigh the "cool factor" of futuristic tech like eVTOL flying cars at the Olympics against the gritty reality of a job market where office workers and creative professionals alike face obsolescence. Amidst the chaos of the digital future, Mike also settles the debate on Minnesota’s geography, jokingly labeling the region as "Southern Canada" while discussing the unique logistical challenges of living in the northernmost state of the lower 48.</p>

<p>Turning to matters closer to home, the team shares a heartfelt call to action for the Tacoma community regarding a local favorite. They discuss the devastating fire at Side Piece Kitchen and the long road to recovery for its owner, Hailey, following a severe kitchen accident that resulted in major burns. This powerful segment serves as a vital reminder for listeners to check their fire extinguishers and establish household fire drills. The episode wraps up with a wild recap of Super Bowl prop bets—including the legendary striker who turned a field run into a $50,000 payday—and a final plea to support the local entrepreneurship and "standing with Hailey" through her recovery.</p>
